Video iPod With Removeable Flash

Hey folks,

It's been a tough year so I've not been able to dedicate time to this little hobby of mine. Sorry about that. In addition, as you may have noticed, the newer iPods and iPhones are not exactly hacker-friendly. It seems that days of hardware hacking for these devices may be numbered.

Anyway, here is my newly modified Video iPod for which I removed the HD and replaced it with a removeable compact flash setup by means of both a CF adapter and a CF extender. You'll notice that I had to relocate the headphone jack and eliminate the hold switch. Oh well.
I have tested it with two different cards of different sizes and it works great!

I'll post more details on it as soon as I can.

So Sorry!

I'm sorry for the recent lack of activity, life has been getting in the way and it seems that few people are willing to share hacks to post here! ....shame on you!......

Now, really I'll be posting more iPod hacks in the coming weeks, thanks for your patience!

In the meantime, here's a non-ipod project using a laser engraver....

Issues with upgrading a 3G iPod with Flash

A few folks who have tried to upgrade their 3G iPod with Flash have run into a pesky problem where the restore process does not finish and the iPod constantly restarts. Reader Andreas has put together a handy troubleshooting guide for this. It will be archived under "General iPod".
